Genderace - Germany Country Report
by Czarina Wilpert and Christiane Howe:
"When considering the issues of gender and "racist"/ethnic1 discrimination in Germany there are a number of different categories to be taken in consideration. Both migrants and people of colour with German citizenship as well as that part of the population which are not German citizens considered to be foreigners or "not-Germans". Migrants can be further distinguished by their countries of origin and apparent physical or cultural characteristics differences such as skin colour or traditional clothing. They can also be differentiated according to a number of other more or less apparent characteristics that may also apply to the majority population, such as, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disabilities and age."
